32 Schools Will Receive Smart Classes – Assures J&K Government
India’s digitization drive has taken off. The impact is now visible in the world of education where schools are installing Smart Classes. The state of Jammu and Kashmir is not alienated from this. Jammu and Kashmir government has declared that 32 city schools in the state will receive state-of-the-art Smart Classes that will help children with their studies and education will be taken to a whole new level.
This announcement came from the officials of Jammu and Kashmir government who said that the installation of the Smart Classes will be finished by the end of the ongoing fiscal year. So, the date by which these schools can expect Smart Classes installed, up and running is 31st March, 2017.
A Meeting on Smart Classes for Schools
Mr. Farooq Ahmed Lone, the District Development Commissioner from Srinagar, called for a meeting on November 24, 2016 to learn about the progress of the work. According to the official spokesperson, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Lone met with some important people of which was Srinagar’s Chief Education Officer and various others.
Mr. Lone directed the Chief Education Officer and other people involved in this project to ensure that the project is completed as per schedule. He also instructed the concerned people to ensure that the quality of the equipment to be used for Smart Classes should be of highest quality. Apart from Smart Classes, these 32 schools will also receive ICT Labs for high quality computer learning.
Costing Breakup for Smart Classes Installation in Schools of J&K
For Smart Class installation, 32 city schools have been selected. The table below shows the project structure and involved cost for this project.

So, what is RMSA and what is SSA?
RMSA stands for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan. Out of the total 32 schools selected, 22 have been selected under the RMSA for installation of Smart Classes. The estimated cost for completion of Smart Classes in each school under RMSA is INR 8 lakhs. This cost includes the expenses for Vinyl flooring as well as electrification apart from the necessary equipment.
SSA stands for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. 10 out of the selected 32 schools have been selected for Smart Classes under the SSA. These 10 schools will be receiving Rs. 6 lakhs each for completion of the project.
According to Chief Education Officer, NIELIT or National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology has been given the responsibility of implementing Smart Classes in these 32 selected schools so that high quality standards can be maintained.
According to the official spokesman, a total amount of INR 38.80 lakhs has been released by DDC from what is known as SADP or Special Area Development Program. This amount will be used for the development of the Smart Classes along with ICT Labs, which will soon start benefiting the students of these schools.
