As the next assembly election in Uttar Pradesh is ringing bells at the doorstep, the ruling Samajwadi party is keeping no stones unturned to woo voters. It has launched a new scheme to provide smart phones to the state people. Just like the new smart phone scheme, the Samajwadi Govt. ahs also launched several other projects for its state people like providing laptops to school and college children, making pension accounts, etc. In the ongoing parliamentary sessions of UP, the new scheme to provide free smart phones was launched. There is however some eligibility criteria required fulfilling, to get free smart phones. The only mode of application for free smart phones under the scheme is online mode. Beneficiaries must register themselves online. After successful application, the Govt. will scrutinise the eligibility criteria and dispatch the phone by June 2017.

How to apply for the Samajwadi Smartphone Yojana?
- A dedicated online portal has been set up for this.

- Please register yourself by clicking on Panjikaran link.
- Please fill all the details mentioned in the online form in English only.
- Click on Submit Button after you have filled everything.
- This page then redirects to http://samajwadisp.in/public/index.php/formregister.
- You will then have to upload all your required documents.
- After this an OPT will come to your mobile, this will be used to proceed further.
- Click Submit to finish the process
Eligibility criteria for the Samajwadi Smartphone Yojana
Some basic regulations are set for joining the smart phone scheme by UP govt. The applicants must posses with them residential certificate of UP, issued by appropriate authorities. The minimum age required to get the free smart phones is 18 years. This scheme is applicable only to those applicants who belong to families with net annual income within Rs. 6 lakh. Earlier, the UP govt. has declared that only families with net annual income within Rs. 2 lakh will get eligibility. But the criteria have been modified. There is also a set educational qualification for joining the scheme. The beneficiaries must be at least class 10 pass to enrol them.
Documents required
The applicants must submit some documents needed to join the free smart phone scheme. They must provide their proof of identity and proof of address. Along with it, to satisfy the minimum educational qualification criteria, they will have to submit the mark sheet of Class 10.
Some other conditions
However, there are some other conditions related to the free smart phone scheme. Those people who have a government job will be unable to join the scheme. The rule is applicable for both the central govt. as well as state govt. employees. This scheme is aimed for provide benefit to the lower income groups of the state. This scheme is an exclusive scheme of Samajwadi party and the funds will be sanctioned only from the party funds. The registration process of the scheme is expected to start from last week of September. Online registration of beneficiaries and verification process will be done. However, the UP govt. has also announced that it will be able to deliver the smart phones only after June 2017. This means, if the ruling party regains power, then only it will disburse the phones, as promised.

The free smart phones to be provided by the UP govt. to its state people will have all technical specifications required in a modern day smart phone. It will run on Android operating system’s latest version. The phone will have apps already loaded into it. All the official apps maintained by the Uttar Pradesh govt. The beneficiaries will be able to easily connect with the government, get their services and share their feedback with the govt. Apart from this, the phones will contain weather app, study materials for students, etc.
