Lenovo’s Plan to manufacture in India
Lenovo has already has several of its products in India but no it is looking to extend its relationship with the country further. Many manufacturing units of Lenovo will be set up here. This will also strengthen the company’s initiative to get the Indian customers what they want. Not just that but Lenovo considers India to be a potential centre for the manufacture of laptops.
The company already has a Pondicherry plant that has begun with the manufacturing of desktops. However, soon this place could start manufacturing laptops and notebooks as well, according to the company representatives. In fact, the director of consumer business in Lenovo India, Dinesh Nair, said that the company will take a call soon to decide when to begin the project. It could start anytime.
They also announced that Lenovo is a brand that is very committed to the Prime Minister’s ‘make in India’ initiative. Therefore Chennai plant has already started manufacturing. The company’s CEO and Chairman Yang Yuangqing visited India in 2015 and met the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, making it obvious that they were keen on starting their projects in India soon.
Things to know about Lenovo brand
- In terms of market share, Lenovo is already the third largest PC vendor in the country. Now they have redesigned their whole portfolio to suit the needs of the current youth.
- They have also reduced their prices to keep them at competitive levels and they have also targeted the business segments to meet the demands of the current times.
- The revenue contribution from the laptop segment alone is 85 ri 88 per cent of all sales. The rest of the sales are from desktops.
What are the new launches?
They have launched Ideapad 510s among others which is thin and light to carry and allows greater portability. Also, embedded is the Harman Kardon audio system, making it cost only Rs. 51,090 only. Then there is the Ideapad 710s which is super light and great for on-the-go jobs and it costs only Rs. 73,390. The laptops will have lightning fast charging system built within them.
If you are an avid gamer, then buy Ideapad Y700 it is targeted towards the gamers and has all high end features. The highlight however is the hard bundled gaming kit that comes with it which costs Rs. 19,496 in the market but gamers can buy it with this PC for Rs. 2,999 only. It comes with a mechanical mouse, a gaming mouse, an armored backpack and a special headset.
If you want to buy a simplistic laptop then go for the Ideapad 310 – it features Intel CPU 7th Gen and HF touch screen display and has NVidia graphics system installed. It is also very pocket friendly for the average user.
For those who want a richer experience, there’s the Ideapad 510 which comes with Harman Kardon audio system and 7th Gen Intel processor. It also has 4GB of NVidia graphics (discreet) and full HD display of IPS panel system for better usability.
Miix 310 on the other hand is a class apart. It is detachable and comes in a very pocket friendly mode. It weighs also only 580 grams. If you are worried that these will not have charge then you can go for the Yoga 510 whose specialty is fast charging capability.
