Karun Nair, the modern day right handed batsmen is just twenty five years old. He has made his debut for India in the year 2016 against England in the ongoing series. His debut did not have much impact as he did not cross the single digit in the Mohali test against the English side. He was under the scrutiny as he would not have been selected for the next series with such poor performance. He too did not create any impact in the next test in Mumbai and people felt that it might be his first and last series.

The boy did not lead his dream to come to an end and he went on to create history in the third international test that he was playing for his nation. When the right hander came to the crease, the team was under serious trouble under the mammoth score of 477 what England has posted in the first innings. The team has recently lost two important wickets of inform Chetershwar Pujara and the run machine Virat Kohli cheaply. Another Karnataka boy KL Rahul was playing superbly on the other side and to accompany him the right hander from Karnataka joined.

Both of them played the domestic cricket with each other and scored lots of run for their state team. Now it was the turn to save the nation and they both complimented each other superbly. When KL Rahul was just about to reach the double century he fell for a outside delivery and he had to return to pavilion without achieving that milestone. On the fourth day, he went on to get the maiden century just after the lunch and from there he did not look back. He played his shots all around the park and registered his maiden double tonne. He seemed to be unhappy even with the double century. After the double century he played some attacking cricket and thumped two hundred fifty runs for himself. The team went passed the mammoth score of 477 and the instruction from the dressing room was to go for everything.

The twenty five year boy did not think about the history that was going to create rather he selflessly played some rash cricket and dumped the English bowler as they were taken to fours and sixes. The brave warrior then gradually proceeded to the milestone that only one Indian could achieve till that day. He smashed the boundary through the point region and then registered his maiden and record score of 300. The Three hundred score of Karun Nair has helped the team to go past its previous highest score of 729 and by the time the Indian captain declared, it was a huge mountain of score of 759 that India has posted on England.

While Karun Nair was proceeding towards the maiden triple tonne, he has broke several records and created new records. These achievements are listed in the points given below:

  • He has registered the third highest score by an Indian and he was only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to reach the three hundred mark in an innings.
  • He was also the third player to convert the maiden test century into in to a triple century. Gary Sobers and Bob Simpson are the other two to do so.
  • He was the first Indian to covert the maiden test tonne to triple tonne and he broke the record of Vinod Kambli who converted his maiden test tonne to double tonne.
  • It was also the highest individual score by an Indian against England earlier the highest score was registered by Indian captain Virat Kohli in the ongoing series.
  • He is also the third highest individual scorer in an innings by batting at number five.
