IPL 10 Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) 2017 Team, Squad, Players, Captain, History, Owners, Facts, Records,Jersey, Logo and Team Identity
The Pune Indian Premiere League (IPL) Team is known as Rising Pune Supergiants. They are a new team compared to the others. They have only started playing since 2016 but due to the presence of good players they have managed to give tough competition to all the other teams.
IPL is always conducted with a certain number of teams but recently Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings have been suspended for two seasons. Their owners were caught in the act of illegal betting which is why they will not be allowed to play for two consecutive years. Hence, Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants will act as their replacements in these years.
Owners and Sponsors
The team is owned by the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group. Sanjiv Goenka calls the shots in the team selection and monetary management. The team was only announced in the year 2016 at Kolkata by Sanjiv Goenka. Raghu Iyer is the CEO of the team.
The team has managed to gain a lot of highlight this is why they are flooded with sponsors. Some of the companies that are sponsoring them are Ola, New India Assurance, Kent RO Water Purifier System, LYF smartphones, and more. Among them, Kent RO Systems sponsored them for the year 2016-17. It remains to be seen whether they stay faithful to the team this year also.
Performance so far
They have only been here for about a year. However looking at their start we can say that the team has a really great competitive spirit. Mumbai Indians, who won last to the last year, was opening the match with them. However, Team Pune managed to defeat Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets and established its record as a pretty strong team.
In the sixth game of the season, the team was competing against Sunrisers Hyderabad, during which they felt a strain. However, Ashok Dinda was introduced during this match. This lifted the game and the morale of the players. They then went to win the match against Hyderabad by 34 runs – that is huge in T20.
Team coach and players
Since two teams have been debarred from playing, many of the players which were earlier unavailable, have now become available to the team. For example, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was playing for Chennai Super Kings, is now the team captain of Pune Supergiants. The team therefore has got the upper hand in player selection and has managed to bag some of the best players in the country.
They are being guided by head coach Stephen Fleming and assistant coach Hrishikesh Kantikar. For the bowlers and bowling, Eric Simons is the coach in this team. Whether the team is ready or not can be known by Prashant Agoram as he is the Performance Analyst.
This seems like a well packed and well balanced team with a lot of good team members and analysts to help them. This year’s IPL looks well packed with a good punch and a good number of team members.
