Govt Launches DigiShala TV Channel to Teach Cashless/Digital Initiatives
It is a known fact that the government is trying its best to make cashless payment mode the best available option for the people especially after the demonetization of the old Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes.
It is being commonly seen that the banks are running out of cash and people are hardly getting enough cash for their need. Many have their opinion as the government forcing its fellow citizens to move towards the digital cashless mode of transactions, by restricting people to withdraw higher amount from their accounts. To be frank, the current situation is surely moving them towards opting cashless payment for certain specific transactions for sure.
It is being seen that people are now slowly trying out the payment procedures using e-wallets, IMPS, and UPI. But then a fact is that maximum numbers of people are still not aware of such procedures and even if they know about it, they do not know how to use it.
So to help out such people and to make them aware of the new and convenient payment and transaction modes the government of India has now launched DigiShala.
What is DigiShala?
Well keeping in mind the fact that people are fed up of standing in long queues of the ATMs and banks and are now wanting an alternative but are not being able to use it because of the lack of knowledge about it the government has launched the DigiShala. DigiShal is a 24×7 television channel that will be available in all the states of India and it will educate and inform people of the country about the cashless modes of transactions that are possible and on how to make use of such facilities.
The main objective of this television channel will be to tell people about the cashless payments procedures that would include USSD, unified payments interface, electronic wallets, Aadhaar based payment modes, debit card and credit card based payments.
This channel will showcase show that would include panels talking about the new payment modes and about the benefits of it. They will also tell the people about the fact that there is no particular risk associated with this payment mode as many people think otherwise.
Along with the television channel the government of India has also launched an online portal or website that is named as Cashless India Website and the link to it is www.cashlesindia.gov.in.
Digi Dhan Abhiyan – A Quick Glance
Digi Dhan Abhiyan one of the initiatives taken by the current NDA government in order to create the awareness among the people about going digital, the Digi Dhan Abhiyan is specially launched to fulfill the Prime Minister of India Mr. Modi’s dream of Digital India.
The web portal and the free television channels which are announced by the government of India will be a part of the Digi Dhan Abhiyan that is a campaign that has been launched by the IT ministry to promote the concept of cashless payments and transactions to every person in the country.
- It has been noted that in the past one month, after demonetization that is, the use of cashless truncation has notable gone up. Moreover this move towards cashless transaction is without any formal training or any such thing.
- The government feels that more people would make use of such digital mode of payment and transaction through a kind of training or demonstration, which is given to them through a medium that is most effective to all kinds of Indian families.
- So the government has launched a television channel for reaching out to the people of the country and tells them about cashless payments and transactions.
- This channel by the government will be provided to the entire household without any cost, just like Doordarshan channels so that every person having a television can get access to it.
Conclusion
This initiative by the Indian government surely comes as a useful one but then may be the launch of such a channel could have been done before the demonetization was struck in the country. Nevertheless the channel and the website would act beneficial for all those people in the country who hardly know about the benefits and ways of cashless transactions and payments.
