Coaches with Glass Ceiling to be introduced soon by IRCTC
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will soon launch several coaches with glass ceiling facilities. Introducing coaches with glass ceiling is another important initiative by IRCTC and this initiative is introduced mainly to modernize the old–fashioned condition of the passenger and express trains of India.
IRCTC is also planning to introduce infotainment systems in the trains to modernize them even more.
IRCTC, RDSO & ICF have jointly designed the new coaches with glass cleaning facility of Indian Railways. The new coaches were designed at Chennai. The new coaches are manufactured at ICF and each of them has a manufacturing cost of Rs 4 crore. The work in the glass ceiling project started in 2015. The first train of Glass Ceiling Project is all set to roll out in October and after that this modern facility will be introduced in selected trains from December, 2016.
Objective of Glass Ceiling Project
The main objective behind launching coaches with glass ceiling is to modernize the condition of the old–fashioned trains of Indian Railways. These new coaches will attract more and more people to it and it will also promote tourism and persuade tourists from Indian and foreign countries.
Glass Ceiling facility in trains is available in other countries and they have already enjoyed a lot of tourists and Indian Railways also aims to attract more tourists by modernizing the facilities of their trains.
Implementation of Glass Ceiling Project
The project will be implemented from December, 2016 as three coaches from ICF will be rolled out from December. Below the details of them are provided.
- First Coach: The first coach of Glass Ceiling Project will be rolled out from December and it will be tagged in a regular train in the Kashmir Valley.
- Second Coach: The second coach of Glass Ceiling Project will be rolled out from December and it will be a part of train careening through the attractive KK Line of Araku Valley on the South–Eastern Railway.
- Third Coach: The third coach of Glass Ceiling Project will be rolled out from December and it will be a part of train careening through the attractive Waltair Station of Araku Valley on the South–Eastern Railway.
Facilities of Coaches with Glass Ceiling
Coaches with glass ceiling facilities is a facility which is being launched for the very first time in India and it is expected to rival the best glass ceiling facilities around the world. This glass ceiling coaches will be very luxurious and comfortable for an individual to travel. The coaches will be one of the finest for travelling.
Also, the coaches with glass ceiling facilities will provide rotatable chairs so that a passenger is able to enjoy aerial view. These special coaches will also have ample leg space for a passenger. Also, these coaches will be equipped with the most modern infotainment systems. Overall, these coaches will be very luxurious and will attract more tourists.
