The Punjab Government has announced that it will provide nearly 50 lakh 4G enabled smartphone to the youth of the state for free. Of course you will have to fulfill certain criteria for that. What’s more? Not just the smartphone but you will also get 1 year 3G data and voice calling feature enabled in it. To avail the scheme you will have to book it at captainsmartconnect.com.
The smartphone is being made available by the Congress party. As the Punjab 2017 election nears, the scheme gives new hope to the youth of the state to avail free smartphones in their name.
What are the features of this scheme?

- Also, after the registration the phone will take 100 days to reach you – that is a little bit more than three months. This is the only catch of availing this phone as per experts.
- Your registration will be eligible only if you have entered all the correct details in the registration form and filled out the form accurately.
- Also the government, in order to reach far and wide to the needy, will give out official notifications in the newspaper for the same. They will also tell in the notification how you can go ahead and register yourself for this scheme.
Who is eligible for availing the benefit of this scheme?
There are mainly four types of requirements that you need to fulfill in order to avail this scheme and that is basically of age, residential address, annual income and educational qualification.
In order to get the free smartphone you need to be between 18 and 35 years of age. Age proof will be asked at a later stage during the verification and if you fail to qualify, you will not be given the phone even if you were selected previously.
Since the scheme is basically for the youth, all of these are necessary to be provided. Aldo, you will have to be a resident of Punjab in order to get this phone. You will have to provide residential proof too in the later stage. So you will have to get the phone for yourself only if you have the required proof.
Educationally, the youth has to be at least 10th class passed. Anyone who has not passed his or her metric exam will not be considered eligible for getting the 4G phone. Similarly, your 10th class mark sheet and result have to be provided later.
If the annual income you earn or the annual income of your household increases 6 lakhs per annum, you will not be held eligible for this. As the deal goes, an income proof of the household will also have to be provided.
How to register for the Captain Smart Connect Free Smartphone?
- Go to the aforesaid website and click on “register”. A new page will open where you have to enter all the details about yourself. A number of details like your father’s name, your address, etc. will be asked.
- Enter all the details and check again whether you have entered all the details correctly or not. Once you are sure you have entered them correctly, click “submit now”.
- After clicking on submit, you will be sent a One Time Password (OTP) on your provided phone number. Wait for two minutes and once you get the message, enter it on the space provided on the screen.
- If you have been waiting for over 10 minutes and the password has not reached you, then click on “Resend OTP”. This will generate a fresh OTP and it should reach you on time.
- Now that you have entered the OTP successfully, you will receive a mobile verification success message on the mobile number. But the message will also contain your Application ID. So it is best to keep this message for future reference.
- The message which you are sent on your phone will also be shown on the website. So if you think it best you can get a print out of the page as well.
That is all you need to do. However keep in mind that if you lose your phone or accidentally spoil your phone, the message will be lost forever. Then you will not get a new application ID. You can do it best to write it down somewhere too.
